You can smell it in the air

It’s that time of year again. The books are lined up in perfect order – no pages missing or bent. They still smell like new books. The colored pencils are all in their respective pencil boxes and the glue sticks are in a neat little row on the shelf.

Please Don’t Attempt Pubic Displays of Affection

Don’t get “childish” confused with “silly,” son.

As the mom of a 12 (almost 13) year old, I finally feel like I’m getting to the good part. The part where I get to share with him, the wisdom of my years and stuff. So in a recent discussion of all things deep, my son comes out with, “Your friends are childish.” And [...]

Mommy Files: Poetic Justice Part 2

I reminded her that presents are more fun when they are a [...]

Mommy Files: My Multiple Personalities

Me + 3 Children = 1 Hard to Define Person Child #1: The Boy He used to be little and now he’s big.  I’m having trouble adjusting.  We used to cuddle but now when I hug him it’s like hugging a piece of lumber.  My current perception of his needs are to, as he put [...]
